How to Care for Jumping Spiders!

Image
Today we watched this video about jumping spiders and how to care for them. Later we opened the mailbox and found one trying to make its home there! No, we aren't going to let it live inside the house, but it was exciting to find!

Projects

Making compost in a 2-liter pop bottle. We layered dirt and veggie scraps. Then we put a couple of worms in it. We will dump it out once a week to check out what is going on. Our Mother's Day project. Paper clip flower magnets! Had fun painting and playing with some alphabet noodles.

Down Time

One of the great things about homeschooling is that you can take some downtime when you need it. Last weekend, we had a ton of people coming for my Mom-in-Love's funeral so I took the week before to prepare. Then last week was recovery time. We have been reading a few books every day and doing a few projects: painting, science experiments, planting flowers, building things with cardboard boxes, and lots of cleaning.  One project the kids really enjoyed was a fine motor exercise making pompom and toothpick mazes to draw through.  Next week -BACK TO WORK!

St. Louis Science Center

We went to the St. Louis Science Center Friday. I posted it on the Almost Unschooling Grama Blog, but I'm too lazy to do it all over so here's the link! https://almostunschoolinggrama.blogspot.com/2021/05/st-louis-science-center.html
